Guinness Turns 250

guinness_bottle_250To celebrate this amazing anniversary they are introducing the first new stout from there brewery in more than half a century. There 250th anniversary stout is available now for a limited time. I have not had the pleasure of trying this beer yet but hopefully by the end of the day I should be able to take care of that and let everyone know what I thought. From the Guinness website this beer is a combination of ale and stout malts and has a special carbonation that is not in their normal stout. I encourage every one to go pick some up and celebrate Guinness 250th anniversary this weekend.

  1. I can’t imagine where you got the notion that this was the first new stout in 50 years. Guinness Mid-Strength arrived in 2007. We had the limited edition Brewhouse series in 2005 and 2006: Brew 39, Toucan Brew and North Star.

None of them were particularly interesting, and I’m guessing this won’t be either. Though I’ll probably never find out as they won’t be selling it in Ireland.

    • This is the first new stout for the US market since 1967. Here is a direct quote from the Guinness website, “This is the first new Guinness® stout we’ve introduced to the US since we first started importing Guinness® Draught in 1967”. So you may be lucky enough to have got a few new products over there in Ireland but this is the first one we have seen.
